Snow in Sierra Nevada

Only 50 minutes from Granada city, this is the time it takes you to reach the snow of one of the most impressive alpine landscapes in Spain: Sierra Nevada. Here is the highest mountain in the Iberian Peninsula, the Mulhacén (3,479 mts.), an Andalusian name! It comes from Mulay Hasan, the penultimate Nasrid king (and is said to be buried in the mountain). One of the best ski resorts in Spain is located here.

Sierra Nevada was declared a Biosphere Reserve and has National Park status: Impressive landscapes, 100 kilometers of ski slopes, areas dedicated to children and a resort. In the resort there is at least one restaurant with Halal offer.

How to get there

By car, from Granada in southeastern direction, following the A-395 motorway, you will reach Sierra Nevada in approximately 40 minutes. There are regular bus lines that depart daily from the Granada Bus Station and connect with the resort in about one hour. The frequency of these buses depends on the day of the week and the season. There are also local buses that will help you to get around between the different areas of the Sierra Nevada ski station.

Snow season

Generally, from the middle or end of November to the end of April, or the first week of May.

Our tip

During the ski season, Granada is crowded on weekends. You should book your hotel well in advance. If possible, choose working days to visit both Sierra Nevada and Granada itself.
