The wachtowers

Spread throughout its 21 kilometers of coastline, Estepona has 7 watchtowers, testament of a defense system that lasted until the 19th century. They are the towers of Arroyo Vaquero, Saladillo, Salavieja, Padrón, Velerín, Guadalmansa and Baños. The last two are of Muslim origin, built between the tenth and fourteenth centuries. The rest were later built by Christian rulers.
