The relaxing white village

Situated in the southern area of La Axarquia, a pretty Torrox village inland from its coastal resort sister, Torrox Costa is framed by the Tejeda and Almijara mountain. Its heart is a maze of whitewashed streets whose layout keeps the essence of the Islamic past. In its streets, in a placid crowd-free atmosphere, remain some of the ancient Muslim towers.

Plaza de la Constitución It is the heart of the town and one of the most pleasant corners, with terraces where you can enjoy the fabulous climate of Torrox, with an annual average temperature of 18 degrees centigrade. In the place where today stands the Encarnación Church was the main mosque.
Mulberry trees The Arabs promoted the planting of mulberry trees, turning Torrox into a center for the silk industry. From its port, silk was exported to Damascus and Baghdad. You will see this type of trees in the streets
