Albolafia water mill

The Noria de la Albolafia, with a main wheel of 15 meters in diameter, is next to the Roman Bridge, on the northern bank of the River Guadalquivir. It was built under Abd al-Rahman II to carry river water up to the Emir's palace by means of an ingenious aqueduct. It was rebuilt in the 12th century by Abu i-Afiya (hence the name), by order of the Almoravid Emir. From the 15th century, this water mill is part of Cordoba's shield.
