From Barcelona to breathtaking Cordoba
day 2
From Barcelona to breathtaking Cordoba

Today you leave Barcelona behind and head south to Andalusia. Your journey continues in the city that reached the height of Al-Andalus’ splendour: Cordoba, the Islamic Qurtubah. The direct high-speed train journey takes approximately 4 hours and 52 minutes. If a direct train is not available, a connection adds around 45 minutes.

In the early afternoon, after settling into your hotel, and accompanied by a local guide (Muslim, subject to availability), you will visit the Great Mosque of Córdoba, the most important Islamic monument in the West. You will also walk through the heart of the former caliphal city.

At the end of the guided tour, you will have free time to continue exploring other highlights of the historic centre at your own pace, including the Roman Bridge, the Calahorra Tower, the Arab walls and craft shops showcasing traditions inherited from Al-Andalus. If you do not complete your visit today, you will have time to continue the following morning.

This morning, you can continue exploring impressive Cordoba before taking your high-speed train to Granada. After a journey of approximately one and a half hours, you will arrive in this charming city, once the last Muslim kingdom of Al-Andalus.

From your centrally located hotel, you can start exploring the heart of Granada, shaped by its rich Islamic heritage, on your own.

Get ready to experience one of the highlights of your journey: the Alhambra, one of the finest examples of Islamic art and one of the most visited monuments in the world. The exact time of the visit will be confirmed based on ticket availability and the availability of Muslim guides. The visit lasts approximately 3 hours.

You will then have the rest of the day free to explore other highlights of Granada at your own pace. Do not miss places such as the Albaicín, the former Muslim quarter and the earliest heart of the city, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site; the Sacromonte, known for its cave houses and flamenco tradition; or the Paseo de los Tristes, set along the Darro River.

If you wish, you may optionally arrange a Muslim guide to accompany you throughout the day (8 hours).

Follow your local guide on a walking tour through the highlights of Islamic Seville, Isbiliya, one of the great capitals of Al-Andalus. You will discover landmarks such as the Giralda, the former minaret of the main mosque and today the symbol of the city; the Puerta del Perdón of the Cathedral, a remnant of the old mosque; the Torre del Oro by the Guadalquivir; and the Royal Alcázar, whose origins date back to the Umayyad governors.

You will also see other key sites, including the Archivo de Indias —which, together with the Cathedral, the Giralda and the Royal Alcázar, forms a UNESCO World Heritage Site— as well as the Plaza de España.

After the tour, you can continue exploring the many charms of Seville at your own pace, often regarded as one of the most beautiful cities in Spain. Optionally, you may arrange a Muslim guide to accompany you for the rest of the day, helping you make the most of your time in the city.
