Explore Madrid and continue to Cordoba

Get ready to discover the essentials of Madrid. From the Muslim origins of the city — the current Royal Palace stands on the site of the former Arab Alcázar (fortress) — to the Habsburg district, the oldest part of Madrid, with emblematic places such as Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor, and the Bourbon area, home to landmarks such as the Cibeles and Neptune Fountains, Puerta de Alcalá and the Prado Museum.Other iconic sights of Madrid will not be missed, including Gran Vía, Paseo de la Castellana and the Real Madrid Stadium.

After a break for lunch — your guide will recommend the best halal restaurants throughout the tour, or you may choose to include organized halal lunches and/or dinners — we will continue our journey towards Andalusia, where an essential part of this magnificent tour unfolds.

Our first stop: Cordoba, the city that reached the peak of Al-Andalus splendour. Accommodation at the hotel and overnight in Córdoba.

From Qurtubah to Granada: The splendour of Al-Andalus
day 3
From Qurtubah to Granada: The splendour of Al-Andalus

This morning, you will relive the splendour of Islamic Qurtubah, capital of the Umayyad Caliphate, a leading centre of science and knowledge, and one of the most advanced and influential cities of the medieval world. You will visit its greatest jewel: the impressive Great Mosque (ticket included), the most important Islamic monument in the Western world.

We will stroll through some of the narrow streets of the old medina and discover other highlights of the city, such as the Roman Bridge over the Guadalquivir River, preserved to this day thanks to the major reconstructions carried out during the Islamic period, the Calahorra Tower and the ancient city walls.

You will also have some free time to enjoy the surroundings of the Great Mosque at your own pace, an area full of charming craft shops and workshops that still preserve the legacy of Al-Andalus.

In the afternoon, we will continue our journey to Granada, capital of the last Muslim kingdom on the Iberian Peninsula.

Accommodation at the hotel and overnight in Granada.

Inside the Alhambra
day 4
Inside the Alhambra

Get ready to experience one of the highlights of this journey: the breathtaking Alhambra, a true masterpiece of Islamic art and one of the most visited monuments in the world. An expert Muslim guide will help you discover not only the extraordinary beauty of this palatine city, but also the hidden meanings and fascinating stories behind its different areas, including the Nasrid Palaces and the magnificent Generalife Gardens.

The rest of the day will be devoted to exploring other highlights of Granada, beginning with the Albaicín, the historic quarter that became a refuge for Muslims after the Christian conquest and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At its highest point, you will visit the famous San Nicolás viewpoint and the Great Mosque of Granada, both offering breathtaking views of the Alhambra.

Overnight in Granada.

The Alpujarras, mountain refuge of Al-Andalus, and on to Seville
day 5
The Alpujarras, mountain refuge of Al-Andalus, and on to Seville

Today, you will discover the enchanting Alpujarras, one of the most beautiful and distinctive regions of Andalusia. Surrounded by mountain landscapes, you will visit the charming village of Pampaneira, famous for its whitewashed houses, narrow streets and traditional handicrafts.

The Alpujarras hold a special significance for Muslims. Following the Christian conquest of Granada, many Muslims found refuge in these mountains, where they preserved their traditions and way of life for generations. Today, this peaceful and inspiring region continues to attract Muslims from all over the world, many of whom have chosen to make it their home.

After exploring this fascinating region, we will continue our journey to Seville, the vibrant capital of Andalusia, where another unforgettable chapter of your tour awaits.

Exploring Seville, the Islamic Isbiliya
day 6
Exploring Seville, the Islamic Isbiliya

Enjoy this full day discovering the many charms of Seville, the Islamic Isbiliya, one of the great capitals of Al-Andalus. You will visit iconic landmarks such as the Giralda — the former minaret of the Great Mosque and today the symbol of the city — the Puerta del Perdón, now part of the Cathedral and one of the few surviving elements of the old mosque, the Torre del Oro on the banks of the Guadalquivir River, and the Royal Alcázar, whose origins date back to the Umayyad period.

Among the city's other emblematic sites are the magnificent Plaza de España, the beautiful bridges spanning the Guadalquivir River, and its pleasant riverside promenades.

Seville is an excellent destination for shopping, whether strolling through the elegant streets of the historic centre, such as Sierpes and Tetuán, or visiting modern shopping centres and fashion outlets. The possibilities in Seville are endless.

Back to Madrid, via breathtaking Toledo
day 7
Back to Madrid, via breathtaking Toledo

Today you leave Andalusia behind and return to Madrid. Crossing the vast plains of La Mancha — the legendary land of Don Quixote — you will discover another jewel of Al-Andalus beyond Andalusia: Toledo, the emblematic "City of the Three Cultures", where Muslims, Christians and Jews lived side by side for centuries and which is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Besides its spectacular location — surrounded by the Tagus River — Toledo, the Islamic Tulaytula, preserves an extraordinary medieval urban layout, making it perhaps the best-preserved Andalusi medina in Spain. You will explore its monumental gates and ancient walls, emblematic mosques such as Bab al-Mardum, the former souk at Plaza de Zocodover, magnificent Mudejar buildings and many other treasures.

After the visit, we will continue to Madrid, just 70 km away, where you will arrive in the late afternoon.

Check-in at the hotel and overnight in Madrid.
