Located just 20 kilometers from Malaga, Benalmádena is one of the towns on the Costa del Sol with a complete and more suitable offer for family tourism. It's formed by three urban centers: Benalmádena Town, Benalmádena Costa and Arroyo de la Miel, while its main attractions are two: the awarded marina and the amusement park Tivoli World. Its name comes from the Arabic "Ibn al-Madin", "the sons of the mines".

Benalmádena Travel Tips

Benalmádena is a popular tourist destination throughout the year. If you want to avoid crowded beaches, rule out July and August. June and October are sunny months and much quieter. In winter you will also enjoy many bright days and mild temperatures. More affordable prices too.

The municipality of Benalmádena is made up of three well-differentiated urban centers. Benalmádena Pueblo is the old town, of Muslim origin, and with the physiognomy of the typical Andalusian white village. Arroyo de la Miel, is the intermediate zone between the mountains and the coast, where most of the population lives. Benalmádena Costa, is the coastal strip, where almost all hotels and resorts are located, as well as the famous marina.

Benalmádena is 13 km from Malaga Airport (18-20 minutes by car). Although the municipality has two commuter train stations (Arroyo de la Miel and Torremuelle) that connect with Málaga María Zambrano train station, the most comfortable transfer is probably by car, at least if you carry luggage. A taxi from Malaga to Benalmádena Costa costs € 25 approx.

Benalmádena has an excellent location to visit other touristic destinations on the Western Costa del Sol (such as Marbella, Estepona or Fuengirola), Gibraltar, and even other "must visit" cities in Andalusia such as Cordoba, Granada or Seville. Malaga city and its wide cultural offer are a stone's throw away.

The Salsabil Mosque of Benalmádena is on Avenida Terramar Alto, 1, 29630 Benalmádena.
