Try the delicious horchata

There are different types of tiger nut milk -a favorite even of the pharaohs in Egypt- but we refer here to the Valencian 'horchata', which is made with wet chufas -a small tuber of this region- in addition to water, sugar and cinnamon or lemon peel. Although this refreshing drink is also produced in an industrial way, if you visit Valencia Region do not miss the opportunity to try a delicious artisan 'horchata'.

Where

Tiger nut milk is native to the town of Alboraya, the main place where chufas are grown. There you will find some of the best 'horchaterías' (orxaterías in Valenciano), but also in Valencia city. El Collado, Horchatería Fabián o Casa de l'orxata, among them.

With 'fartons'

The fartón is the typical Valencian sweet with which the horchata is usally accompanied. It is a soft and light bun made with flour, milk, eggs, yeast and sunflower oil (never lard).
