Calatayud

Its name clearly shows its origin: Qal'at Ayyub, the castle of Ayyub. We are talking about Ayyub ben Habib al-Hajmi, third wali of Al-Andalus. The urban defensive enclosure of Calatayud, with more than 11 centuries of existence,  is the oldest preserved of those built by the Arabs in the Peninsula, and one of the oldest in the Islamic world. This interesting town in the province of Zaragoza also has a Mudejar tower that is part of the Aragonese treasures listed by the UNESCO.
