The complete guide to Alhambra tickets: 32 expert answers and tips

Types, prices, and how to buy and secure your Alhambra tickets: all you need to know to make the most of your visit to one of Spain's most extraordinary monuments.

You may be wondering why something that should be relatively simple, buying Alhambra tickets, requires such a long and comprehensive guide. But we believe every one of these 32 questions is relevant. Not an ounce of fluff.

Let’s start with the fact that the Alhambra is a must-see on any trip to Spain. In our more than 12 years of experience assisting Muslim travelers and organizing tours for them in this country, we have witnessed this hundreds of times: the Alhambra is usually at the very top of Muslim travelers’ wish lists, sometimes even ahead of the Great Mosque of Córdoba. There is one detail that particularly strikes us, and even moves us: some travelers do not speak of the Alhambra as an attraction, or as one of the monuments to visit as part of their experience in a city, in this case Granada. They speak of it, and think of it, as a destination in its own right: the Alhambra is as important as, or even more important than, the city in which it stands. In other words, it is more than Granada itself. And it’s hardly surprising, given the wonders and deep meanings of this jewel of Al-Andalus heritage.

But there is a catch: the number of visitors to the Alhambra is limited by law. To protect and preserve this extraordinary monument (and also to ensure a more enjoyable visitor experience), its maximum annual capacity is set at 2,763,500 people. The problem is that more people want to visit the Alhambra than there are tickets available.

And when a traveler misses out on tickets —and believe us, it happens almost every day— the trip can never be quite the same. Especially during peak season, securing Alhambra tickets is a real challenge, as they can sell out weeks in advance. So our best advice could not be simpler: buy your tickets as far in advance as possible (they go on sale one year ahead). The sooner you do so, the better your chances of securing them for your preferred date and time.

This is our main recommendation, but there are many other tips we can share that will be extremely useful when buying your tickets, securing your visit, and enjoying the best possible experience during your trip to Spain.

Knowing “everything” about Alhambra tickets is no exaggeration. On the contrary, it can help you plan your trip successfully and avoid one of the biggest disappointments possible: missing out on your Alhambra tickets. Take note of our 32 professional tips.

32 questions answered: find what you need

1. Where should I buy Alhambra tickets?

You should buy your tickets through the official channels provided by the Alhambra itself, through the public institution responsible for managing it: the Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife (Alhambra and Generalife Board). There are three channels: its official website, its telephone booking service (+34 858 889 002), or the monument’s ticket offices. But we should warn you right away: if you wait until you get to the ticket office, you are very likely to find that tickets have already sold out.

Homepage of the official Alhambra website, where visitors can find information and purchase tickets online.
The official Alhambra website, the recommended place to buy your tickets. / ALHAMBRA PATRONATO

All three sales channels (telephone, website, and ticket offices) operate through a unified ticketing system with shared availability. This means that the number of tickets available is the same at any given time across all channels, with one exception: the monument’s ticket offices only sell tickets for visits taking place that same day, subject to availability. In other words, no tickets are reserved exclusively for this channel. Nor can you purchase tickets in advance at the ticket offices. A ticket sold through any of the three channels immediately becomes unavailable through the others.

The official website is perhaps, according to our experience, the most practical and straightforward option. On the homepage, you will see a button in the central area linking to the ticket sales section. Before proceeding, you will need to enter your email address and the security code sent to your inbox. Although the website is available in six languages (Arabic, English, French, Italian, Chinese, and Spanish), the ticket purchasing system is not available in Arabic or Chinese.

The telephone booking service operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week (except on the only days when the Alhambra is closed: December 25 and January 1). Assistance is available in English, French, and Spanish.

2. Is it easier to get Alhambra tickets at the ticket office?

No. As explained in the previous section, the ticket offices do not have their own allocation of general admission tickets, nor are tickets specifically reserved for visitors who come in person. The website, telephone service, and ticket offices share the same inventory, which is updated immediately after every sale. In addition, ticket offices only sell tickets for the same day.

Alhambra mural near the ticket office, at the entrance to the monument. / ALHAMBRA PATRONATO

Even when a final batch of tickets is released on the day of the visit (tickets originally reserved for institutional or other special visits that ultimately went unused), they become available through all three official channels, not just at the ticket office.

And our experience tells us that buying them online is usually faster than buying them at the ticket office itself. If you find tickets available on the website, the most practical thing to do is purchase them immediately rather than travel to the monument and risk finding that they have sold out.

One more warning: unfortunately, tickets for same-day visits are not released every day.

3. Are there other ways to get tickets besides the Alhambra’s own sales channels?

Yes, there are. Various travel agencies organize regular guided group tours, as well as private visits for small groups or individual visitors, and these tours generally include admission tickets. If you choose one of these options, it is important to check that the tour includes the Nasrid Palaces, as well as the other conditions of the visit (languages offered, etc.).

Online booking website offering guided tours of the Alhambra with admission tickets included.
Online guided tours of the Alhambra, with admission tickets included. / TRIPADVISOR

Bear in mind that quite a few agencies sell guided tours before the admission tickets have been fully confirmed, since they need the complete identification details (name and identification document) of every visitor before they can obtain final confirmation. This does not mean that the sale is fraudulent or that you will necessarily be unable to obtain your tickets. Rather, the question is whether your visit is fully secured (tickets cannot legally be sold separately). There is a small risk that the tickets may ultimately not be secured. That is why it is important to check carefully what the operator is offering and, above all, whether ticket confirmation is final and immediate.

At Let’s Go Halal, we also offer private tours with expert Muslim guides that include admission tickets to the monument and are, of course, subject to ticket availability. Before requesting any payment or deposit, we check whether tickets are available, inform you of the options that can be confirmed immediately, and only then ask you to make a payment.

However, there is another official option that can be very helpful, especially when no tickets are available through the Alhambra’s own ticketing system: the Granada Card. This is a tourist pass introduced by Granada City Council that provides admission to the city’s main monuments — including, of course, the Alhambra — and access to public transportation. There are different Granada Card options with different admission arrangements, which we explain below.

4. What types of Alhambra tickets are available?

The official Alhambra website offers eight main types of visits to the monument, each with its corresponding ticket. But pay attention, because this is the most important detail you must not overlook: not all of them include admission to the Nasrid Palaces, the most impressive part of the monument and home to its greatest architectural masterpieces. We are referring to the Mexuar, the Palace of Comares, the Palace of the Lions, the Throne Room, the Hall of the Two Sisters… Your goal should be to purchase tickets that include the Nasrid Palaces.

Alhambra General, the most comprehensive ticket option, on the official website. / ALHAMBRA PATRONATO

The same website also offers a combined ticket for a series of Andalusi monuments which, although managed by the same institution as the Alhambra (the Patronato), are separate from the Alhambra itself.

5. Which tickets include the Nasrid Palaces?

There are six official types of visits that include the Nasrid Palaces (the Mexuar, the Palace of Comares, and the Palace of the Lions, with their respective courtyards and rooms).

General day tour

This ticket provides access to all the visitable areas of the monument: the Alcazaba, Nasrid Palaces, Partal, and Generalife. Admission to the Palace of Charles V and the Alhambra Museum is free.

Visits take place from Monday to Sunday during daytime opening hours. In the so-called winter season, from October 15 to March 31, opening hours are 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. During the summer season, opening hours are 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Current adult price (valid for 2026 and 2027): €22.27.

This is the most popular type of ticket and, generally speaking, the first to sell out. It is also the one that usually has the largest number of tickets available for sale.

Night tour to Nasrid Palaces

Visiting hours are from 8:00 to 9:30 p.m. (October 15 to March 31) and from 10:00 to 11:00 p.m. during the remaining months.

Since the maximum visiting time is one and a half hours, this ticket includes the Nasrid Palaces but not other areas of the monumental complex, such as the Alcazaba and the Generalife (which has its own nighttime visit option).

Adult price: €12.73.

Alhambra Experiences visit

This ticket includes a nighttime visit to the Nasrid Palaces and a daytime visit to the Alcazaba, the Generalife Palace, and the gardens, taking place on two consecutive days.

The adult price is the same as for the general visit: €22.27.

Alhambra & Rodriguez-Acosta Foundation & Alhambra

This ticket combines a complete visit to the Alhambra with a visit to the Rodríguez-Acosta Foundation. The foundation is housed in a building approximately a 15-minute walk from the Alhambra. It is an interesting ‘carmen’ (a type of house with a garden typical of Granada) that served as the studio of a renowned painter.

The foundation can be visited on the same day as the Alhambra or the following day, but only between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Adult price: €25.45.

Dobla de Oro General

This ticket includes a daytime visit to the entire Alhambra complex (Nasrid Palaces, Generalife, Partal, and Alcazaba), as well as eight other Andalusi monuments: Corral del Carbón, Bañuelo, Maristán, Dar al-Horra Palace, Casa Morisca Horno de Oro, Casa del Chapiz, Casa de Zafra, and Qubba of the Cuarto Real de Santo Domingo.

Admission to the Andalusi monuments is valid for three days: the day before, the day of, and the day after your visit to the Alhambra.

Adult price: €30.48.

Dobla de Oro at Nigth

This ticket includes a nighttime visit to the Nasrid Palaces and a daytime visit to the eight Andalusi monuments mentioned above.

In this case, too, the Andalusi monuments can be visited over three days: the day before, the day of, or the day after the Alhambra visit.

The Alcazaba, Generalife, and Partal are not included.

Adult price: €23.06.

All these prices are valid for 2026 and 2027 and already include the admission fee itself and the ticketing service charge.

Remember: for every visit that includes the Nasrid Palaces, you must select a specific time to visit them. (The other areas of the monument can be visited at any time during opening hours.) On the day of your visit, you must be punctual and respect the time indicated on your ticket. Otherwise, you may lose your right of admission to these truly unique palaces.

6. Can I buy a ticket exclusively for the Nasrid Palaces?

Yes, but only for a nighttime visit. The Alhambra offers a specific ticket for visiting the Nasrid Palaces at night, without including the Alcazaba, Generalife, or other areas of the monumental complex.

If you wish to visit the Nasrid Palaces during the day, you must purchase one of the ticket types that includes them, such as the general admission ticket. There is no separate daytime ticket exclusively for the Nasrid Palaces.

7. Which types of tickets do NOT include the Nasrid Palaces?

There are two types of visits, or tickets, that do not allow access to the Nasrid Palaces.

Gardens Day Tour

This ticket includes the gardens and the Generalife Palace, the Partal (palace porticoes, gardens, and walkways), and the Alcazaba.

These areas can be visited at any time during daytime opening hours: from October 15 to March 31, between 8:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.; and from April 1 to October 14, between 8:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Adult price: €12.73.

Night tour to Gardens

This ticket includes the Access Pavilion, the Promenade of the Cypress Trees, the Promenade of the Walnut Trees, and the Lower Gardens and Palace of the Generalife.

From April 1 to May 31, visits take place Tuesday through Saturday, from 10:00 to 11:30 p.m. From September 1 to October 14, visits also take place Tuesday through Saturday, from 10:00 to 11:30 p.m. From October 15 to November 14, visits take place on Fridays and Saturdays, from 8:00 to 9:30 p.m.

Adult price: €8.48.

8. How far in advance can I buy Alhambra tickets?

You can purchase your tickets from 12 months in advance until two hours before your visit to the Nasrid Palaces. We recommend checking the official Alhambra website regularly, as ticket availability varies depending on the type of visit and is updated daily.

Calendar pages illustrating the 12-month advance booking period for Alhambra tickets.
Alhambra tickets go on sale 12 months in advance. / AI

Within this time frame, our main recommendation is always the same: the further in advance you try to purchase your tickets, the better your chances of securing them for your preferred date and time. In any case, understanding how the Alhambra ticketing system works can help you achieve this.

Tickets are released gradually. One year in advance, 25% of the total allocation available through the general ticketing system goes on sale. Three months in advance, another 25% is released, and one month in advance, a further 20%. These tickets are released on the first day of each month. For example, on January 1, 20% of the tickets for February, 25% of those for April, and 25% of those for January of the following year go on sale. The same pattern applies on the first day of every month.

If you search for tickets at these times, you will find more tickets available, as a new allocation has just been released for sale. But keep in mind that availability will decrease as tickets are purchased, sometimes very quickly.

There is also an allocation of tickets initially set aside from the general sales system and reserved for special visits: for example, university lecturers accompanying student groups, researchers, people who, for protocol or security reasons, cannot be included in an ordinary visit, and so on.

Tickets from this allocation that are ultimately not used for these special purposes are gradually released into general sales once the final scheduled allocation (one month in advance) has sold out.

Booking your Alhambra tickets well in advance is just one of the things to consider when planning your trip. For more practical advice, check out our guide on how to plan a hassle-free halal trip to Spain.

9. Are some dates more difficult than others?

Yes, there are clearly certain dates when getting tickets is more challenging than at other times, because larger numbers of domestic and international tourists plan to visit the Alhambra. April, May, June, September, and October are considered peak-season months, when tickets sell out more quickly.

The same applies to certain holidays and long weekends in Spain: Easter, May 1 and 2, October 12, December 6–8, and Christmas. And, of course, weekends.

Remember that the Alhambra is closed on December 25 and January 1.

10. Are some visiting times more difficult to book than others?

Definitely. Remember that the visiting time you must select determines when you can enter the Nasrid Palaces.

Tickets are organized into 30-minute time slots (the visit to the different rooms and courtyards in this area takes approximately one hour). The first entry time is 8:30 a.m. every day, and the last is one hour before the monument closes. This means the final entry time in winter is 5:00 p.m. (a total of 18 time slots), and in summer it is 7:00 p.m. (a total of 22 time slots).

Based on our experience after years of purchasing tickets for our travelers, the first two morning slots (8:30 and 9:00 a.m.), those between 2:30 and 4:00 p.m., and the final slots of the day are generally the ones that take the longest to sell out.

11. What should I do if Alhambra tickets are sold out for my preferred date?

If the date you are interested in is unavailable (you will see it crossed out with a red line on the booking calendar), this does not necessarily mean that tickets for that date are completely sold out. Remember that, as explained in an earlier question, Alhambra tickets are released gradually.

It is not difficult to find available tickets around these scheduled release dates (12 months, three months, and one month in advance), although they may sell out again quickly.

A practical example: you are looking for general admission tickets for October 6. You check the official website during the second-to-last week of August, but October 6 is already crossed out.

Your first option should be to check whether the other ticket types that include the Nasrid Palaces are also sold out. If they are, wait until September 1, when the final major allocation of tickets for the entire month of October (that is, for every date in that month) goes on sale. Try to purchase them as soon as they are released because, as the days pass — or even the hours, in some cases — tickets will sell out again, especially for the most popular time slots and for the weekends.

If waiting until that date makes you uneasy and you would prefer to secure your tickets as soon as possible, try the Granada Card, the tourist pass offered by Granada City Council (we explain exactly how it works below). Through this channel, Alhambra tickets tend to take longer to sell out.

Also bear in mind that tickets that do not include the Nasrid Palaces tend to take longer to sell out through either of the available channels (the Alhambra itself or the Granada Card).

12. Can I still get Alhambra tickets if they appear sold out?

Alhambra ticket booking calendar showing 21 consecutive days with no availability, although ticket availability is updated periodically.
The calendar shows 21 consecutive days with no tickets available, but availability is updated periodically. / ALHAMBRA PATRONATO

Don’t forget that ticket availability is updated periodically, and tickets initially reserved for “special visits” that are not used are gradually released for general sale once the final general allocation (released one month in advance) has sold out.

There is no exact pattern (day or time) for when these tickets are released. It is possible for the last tickets to go on sale on the day of the visit itself, although this is not necessarily the case.

Therefore, if you still have not managed to secure your ticket the day before your visit, check availability again very early on the morning of your visit. There is no fixed time for these tickets to be released. They may go on sale overnight or very early that morning, but no later than 8 a.m. (Spanish local time), when the ticket offices open. If a final batch of tickets is available, it goes on sale then. These are tickets set aside for special distribution channels (institutional visits, protocol, etc.) that may ultimately have gone unused.

Remember: going to the ticket office does not increase your chances of obtaining them. Quite the opposite: purchasing online may be quicker and more efficient, especially if you are comfortable making purchases online.

We understand that reaching this point can cause a great deal of anxiety, which is not pleasant to deal with. That is why we cannot emphasize this enough: do everything you can to purchase your tickets as early as possible and, before exhausting your last options, also check online whether any agencies have availability on their guided tours and, of course, consider the Granada Card.

Keep in mind that having a ticket to the Alhambra that does not include the Nasrid Palaces is always better than having no ticket at all (we assure you that the visit will still be very rewarding).

If you haven’t even managed to get one of these tickets, you should know that there are a few small areas of the monument that you can visit freely, without a ticket, such as the Puerta del Vino, the Renaissance Palace of Charles V (which houses the Alhambra Museum), and the mosque baths. among others. But we won’t mislead you: these areas that can be visited for free will offer little consolation.

What you should remember is that the Alhambra will always be there, waiting for you to return another day and finally visit it.

13. How does the Granada Card work?

Image of the Granada Card tourist pass, which includes access to the Alhambra and other attractions in Granada.
The Granada Card tourist pass, which includes admission to the Alhambra. / AYUNTAMIENTO DE GRANADA

The Granada Card is a tourist pass that provides admission to Granada’s main monuments and access to public transportation.

There are different Granada Card options, depending on the number of hours or days of use: 24 hours (€50), 48 hours (€55), and 72 hours (€60). Each Granada Card option includes a different type of visit to the Alhambra.

General admission to the Alhambra, meaning the complete daytime visit including the Nasrid Palaces, is available with the 72-hour and 48-hour Granada Cards. With the 24-hour option, you only have access to the nighttime visit to the Nasrid Palaces (it does not include the Alcazaba or Generalife).

There is also an option called “Jar” (short for Jardines, or Gardens), which allows you to visit the Alcazaba and Generalife during the day but does not include the Nasrid Palaces.

For children aged 2 to 11, there is a Children’s Granada Card, which includes the same services as the adult options.

With the Granada Card, you can visit at least 11 other monuments or museums in addition to the Alhambra (a total of 16 with the 72-hour option).

When purchasing the Granada Card, you must select the pass start date and the date and time of entry to the Nasrid Palaces. Depending on the option, the card is valid for consecutive full days. Tickets go on sale three calendar months in advance at the official website.

The great advantage of this card, in addition to the savings it offers (you can visit more monuments for less money and also use public transportation), is that it often has Alhambra tickets available for dates that have already sold out on the official Alhambra website. This is because the Granada Card has its own allocation of Alhambra tickets, separate from general ticket sales, although these can also sell out.

You can purchase up to eight cards in a single transaction, and this option is not intended for groups.

14. What does it mean that Alhambra tickets are personal and nontransferable?

Each ticket clearly displays the visitor’s first and last name and identification document number (a national identity document issued by their country’s authorities or a passport).

These details must be accurate (they will be checked when entering the monument) and must be entered when making the booking and completing the ticket purchase. They cannot be added afterward.

Generally speaking, personal details cannot be changed once the ticket has been issued (purchased). More precisely, changes are only permitted for a limited number of tickets, depending on how many tickets were purchased under the same booking reference (that is, in a single transaction).

The number of permitted name changes depends on the number of tickets purchased under one booking reference:

  • 1 to 4 tickets: no changes permitted.
  • 5 to 9 tickets: one change.
  • 10 to 19 tickets: two changes.
  • 20 to 30 tickets: three changes.
  • 31 to 40 tickets: four changes.
  • 41 to 50 tickets: five changes.
  • 51 to 60 tickets: six changes.

These changes are limited and subject to the established conditions. They do not constitute permission to transfer tickets freely.

Furthermore, tickets can only be used by the person named on them. They cannot be given to relatives or friends, not even if, for example, there is a written agreement stating that one person has transferred their ticket to another. In short: tickets are nontransferable.

15. Can I reserve tickets and pay for them later?

No, this is not possible. The purchase must be completed and paid for at the time of booking. You cannot reserve tickets and pay later.

16. What should I know before buying Alhambra tickets online?

The Court of the Lions in the Nasrid Palaces of the Alhambra, Granada, featuring its famous fountain supported by twelve sculpted marble lions.
The famous Court of the Lions, one of the most iconic spaces in the Alhambra. / ISTOCK

The process is straightforward, and you have 30 minutes to complete it.

You should have the full names and requested details of every visitor ready. Also prepare their identity document or passport numbers.

You may read in the instructions on the website itself that children under 12 do not need to provide an individual identity document during the online purchase process. However, the fact is that this is a required field on the form, and if you do not complete it, you will not be able to proceed with the purchase.

The online booking system does not allow you to purchase tickets for more than three minors. If you want to purchase more, you must contact the ticket purchasing support service by telephone (+34 858 889 002) or through the live chat.

Bear in mind that each child’s ticket must also include the name of the adult responsible.

It is important to be careful when entering the names and identity document details of visitors for whom these are required, as changes after purchase are limited according to the number of tickets purchased under the same booking reference.

These details will be checked at the entrance, where each visitor must carry the original identity document indicated on their ticket.

It is equally important to enter your email address correctly. You will first be asked to use it to validate a security code. Without this step, you cannot begin the purchase process. You will also need it during the purchase itself, because this is the email address to which your tickets will be sent afterward (just a few minutes after successful payment).

Payment is made by credit or debit card. Visa, Mastercard, and American Express are accepted. During the purchase, you must verify the cardholder’s identity using the 3-D Secure (3DS) bank authentication system. Depending on your bank, verification may take place through its app, a security code, or another procedure. If you use American Express, make sure your card has the necessary authentication system enabled. If it does not, you will not be able to complete the purchase.

If you have any questions during the purchasing process, there is a support chat (look for a round brown-and-black icon in the lower-left corner of the screen) with answers to frequently asked questions, where you can also contact a live agent if necessary.

There is also a telephone support service for ticket purchases (+34 858 889 002). Support through both channels is available in English, French and Spanish 24/7. You can also send inquiries to: tickets.alhambra@iacpos.com.

17. How will I know that my purchase has been completed successfully?

Once payment has been made, you will normally receive a notification from your bank or credit or debit card issuer, as with other online purchases, provided you have these alerts enabled. The system will then redirect you to the Alhambra website, where a thank-you message and purchase confirmation will appear, together with your booking reference.

We recommend writing down this booking reference or taking a screenshot: it is the quickest and easiest way to identify and retrieve your purchase.

Finally, you will receive your tickets by email at the address you provided during the purchasing process.

18. How much do Alhambra tickets cost?

Prices generally depend on the type of visit and the visitor’s age. If you purchase online, you will see the available rates and prices for each ticket type once you begin the purchasing process, after selecting your visit date.

Generally speaking, there are three types of fares. The standard fare, intended for adult visitors, varies depending on the type of visit, as already explained. The reduced fare offers a specific discount to certain categories of visitors. And free admission applies, among other eligible categories, to children aged 3 to 11.

The prices mentioned in this article and shown in the image below are valid for both 2026 and 2027.

Different Alhambra ticket discounts based on age and other eligibility criteria, as shown on the official website. / ALHAMBRA PATRONATO

19. Who is eligible for a reduced ticket price?

All children aged 12 to 15. In their case, for example, the price of general admission is reduced from €22.27 to €14.85.

Other eligible visitors include people with a disability rating of 33% or higher, EU citizens over the age of 65, holders of the European Youth Card (a student card is not valid), and members of large families holding an official certificate issued by a Spanish autonomous community.

In all cases, visitors must carry documentation proving their eligibility for the discount.

To obtain the European Youth Card discount, you must enter your EYCA code during the purchasing process. This generates a ticket with a QR code allowing direct access to the monument. If you do not provide this code, you will need to go to the ticket office before entering the monument to prove that you are entitled to the discount by presenting your European Youth Card.

20. Do children aged 3 to 11, who can enter the Alhambra for free, still need a ticket?

Yes, they do, even though the ticket costs €0. Their tickets must be reserved at the time of purchase and processed together with the adults’ tickets. They cannot be purchased separately.

21. What about babies under the age of 3?

Babies under 3 also need a ticket, but in their case, it is not obtained through the same purchasing process as the adult visitors’ tickets. These tickets are issued at the Alhambra ticket offices.

Bear this in mind so you can arrive at the monument with enough time on the day of your visit, or go there beforehand if you prefer.

22. How many Alhambra tickets can I buy at once?

For most types of visits (general daytime and nighttime visits, Dobla de Oro), you can purchase up to 60 tickets per person and date.

For other combined visit options (such as Alhambra & Rodríguez-Acosta Foundation), the maximum is 10.

The limit of 60 tickets per person and date for most ticket types has been confirmed to us directly by the Alhambra Board for the publication of this article. We mention this because you may come across outdated information stating that the maximum number of tickets for all types of visits is 10.

23. What does the “Format error” message mean when buying Alhambra tickets?

You will receive this message during the purchasing process when one or more fields in the personal information form are empty, incomplete, or contain spaces, data, or characters that are not valid.

To continue with your purchase, review the fields highlighted in red and check that the information is correct.

24. What does Error 184 mean when buying Alhambra tickets?

Error 184 is related to authentication of the bank cardholder.

During payment, you must complete identity verification through your bank’s authentication system, which may require a code, confirmation through its app, or another procedure. If this authentication fails, payment cannot be completed. You will need to contact your bank to resolve the issue.

25. Once I have completed my purchase, how do I receive my tickets?

Once the purchasing process has been completed and payment has been successful, you will receive your tickets by email within just a few minutes, in PDF and passbook formats. You can print them at home or carry them on your phone.

Check your inbox, spam folder, and junk mail. If your tickets do not arrive, you can request assistance and have them resent by email (tickets.alhambra@iacpos.com), by telephone (+34 858 889 002), or through one of the live chat agents.

The support service can check what happened and verify whether the purchase was completed correctly. The quickest way to identify your purchase is to provide your booking reference. If you do not have it, they can also try to locate the purchase using other details, such as the email address used, the date and time of the visit and purchase, or the name of one of the visitors.

26. Can Alhambra tickets be refunded?

Tickets are nonrefundable unless the visit cannot take place for reasons attributable to the institution managing the Alhambra or under very exceptional circumstances provided for by the regulations.

Booking fees are nonrefundable under any circumstances.

If certain areas are occasionally closed for maintenance or other reasons and cannot be visited, this does not entitle visitors to a partial refund of the ticket price either.

As soon as you enter the ticket sales section of the Alhambra website, you will see an initial screen (“Updated visitor information”) informing visitors of any areas that may be temporarily or occasionally affected.

27. What if I need to change the date or time of my visit?

Neither the date nor the time of the visit can be changed.

If your tickets are no longer suitable, you will need to purchase new ones.

Remember that the entry time for the Nasrid Palaces is the one shown on your ticket, and punctuality is essential.

You can visit the other areas at any time during daytime opening hours (nighttime visits require a specific ticket), provided your ticket is valid.

28. Can I exchange a gardens ticket for one that includes the Nasrid Palaces?

No. Once you have purchased a ticket, you cannot exchange it for another type of visit, even if you are willing to pay the price difference.

If you have purchased a ticket for the gardens, Generalife, and Alcazaba, and later decide that you also want to visit the Nasrid Palaces, you will have to purchase a new ticket that includes them, provided tickets are available.

That is why it is so important to check which areas are included in each ticket type before selecting your ticket and completing the purchase.

29. What if I need to change a visitor’s name?

As explained earlier, name changes are only possible within the limits established according to the number of tickets purchased under the same booking reference.

For example, if you have purchased between five and nine tickets, you can change the name of one visitor. For 10 to 19 tickets, two changes are permitted; for 20 to 30, three; for 31 to 40, four; for 41 to 50, five; and for 51 to 60, six.

You cannot freely change the identities of all visitors.

To make these changes, you can call the contact center (+34 858 889 002). Bear in mind that certain conditions apply, including that the tickets must not have been previously printed at the ticket collection terminals.

The name must match the one shown on the visitor’s identity document, whose number will also be recorded on the ticket.

Minor typographical errors are usually accepted at the entrance. In other words, it must be clear that the discrepancy is simply a small typing mistake, not a substantial change to the name.

Remember that tickets are always personal and nontransferable.

30. Can I carry my tickets on my phone, or do I have to print them?

Both options are valid. You can carry your tickets downloaded onto your phone or printed on paper.

However, due to technical limitations of the ticket scanners at the monument’s entrances, groups of more than six people must carry printed tickets.

31. What if I lose or forget my tickets on the day of the visit?

In situations like these, keeping your booking reference written down somewhere other than with the tickets themselves can be extremely useful.

Contact the ticket purchasing support service or explain your problem at the ticket office.

If you do not have your booking reference, the support service can also try to identify your booking using other purchase details.

32. What should I remember about my Alhambra tickets on the day of my visit?

We have already mentioned some of these points, but we will repeat them here.

It is important that all visitors carry their original identification document (the one indicated on the ticket).

Punctuality is also essential for admission to the Nasrid Palaces. Otherwise, you risk losing your right of entry. In exceptional cases of duly justified force majeure, the regulations allow the circumstances to be assessed, but you should not count on being admitted outside your assigned time slot.

You must keep your tickets throughout the visit.

Each area with controlled access can only be visited once using the same ticket.

If you need to collect or print your tickets at the terminals, allow sufficient time. Where applicable, tickets must be collected at least one hour before your scheduled entry to the Nasrid Palaces.

We hope that all these tips will help you purchase your Alhambra tickets successfully.
